We all want to teach our kids. Teach them right from wrong and pass on our hard learned life lessons. We want to prepare them for their grownup life as much as we can.
Problem is that sometime through that process we forget to just let go and have fun. We focus on what we need to accomplish today and too often having fun is being left out of that list.
Well that's the beauty of travel - we learn so much just by visiting foreign countries - we learn Geography and reading maps, we sometimes learn a foreign language, we learn about history and art. The best part is that this is learning through experience which is deemed the most effective learning method.
You don't have to go far - just use the weekend to take your kids to local museums and expose them to different experiences.
One of the most educational museums for kids are science museums. Featuring hands on exhibits kids learn while having fun and we as parents enjoy the process. Most museums change exhibits often meaning you can take your kids again after a while and enjoy a new demonstration.
I took my kids to a wonderful science museum in Haifa, Israel today. The museum opened a new exhibition about 101 inventions that changed human live. Located in a large hall, the exhibits go through 101 inventions explaining them on large surrounding digital screens, it's a very hitech experience.
The Museum also offers a fun outdoors science park where kids could learn physics through play. The Park meshes natural elements of trees and water with giant interactive exhibits, which use wind, sun and water to demonstrate scientific principles.
We had a lovely time and felt a great satisfaction at the end of the day..
On that note, here are some of the best science museums in the world:
- Cite de Science in Paris, France - this is the most popular science museum in the world - it is located on the outskirts of Paris this huge museum has science activities for every age. You could easily spend a full day between the many exhibit halls, 3D movie theater, and real life demonstrations.
- Museum of Science in London - London has plenty of museums and the science museum is one of the best and like many other museums in London - it's free of charge. This is the 2nd most popular science museum in the world
- And if you still looking for more science hands on action - here are the top science centers in the world for 2012.
